Last year my mom came up to bake Christmas cookies with the kids. Even though Big Kid was in public school I kept him home for that day to hang out with his grandma, I figured it was much more important than learning to not pull Suzie’s hair or whatever they were doing in kindergarten. So this year I canceled school too, only it was much easier and involved no homework or catching up or notes with excuses.
So today we made cookies. We also practiced writing our letters in the flour that was spread all over the table and learned the vital lesson of “whatever touches blue food coloring will be VERY blue,” currently Little Kid’s face.
Tomorrow it is back to “normal” whatever that might be! Here is a quick photo of our cookies all made up and in a bag (now in the freezer!) ready for Christmas!
