See You Later, Alligator

Today we did another chapter of Life of Fred.  BK wasn’t NEARLY as excited as he wanted to do math on Time4Learning instead.  I guess I know what his preference is!  I wanted to at least finish out Butterflies this week so I had him do that.  After that he did 2 quick things on T4L while I showered.

Science today was to pick a thing from the “month by month” section of our Nature Connection book and given that it never got above a toasty -2 degrees F today, I decided to pick the lesson about how warm blooded and cold blooded creatures survive the cold.  BK found it interesting that the cold blooded ones came with “anti-freeze” inside them.

We also learned a bit more about the Yellow River Valley in China and what day to day life looked like for them.  It was neat to see some of the pictures that were in the book.

Today we also covered more Charlie! It was one of the longest chapters we have read I think.  It was good though!  Both kids liked the song that the Oompa Loompas sang about Mike Teavee being taken away after he was end of the room to the other.  I simply can’t WAIT for the kids to see this movie and compare it to the book.  I think they are going to love it!  Pictured below is a little snippet of BK’s questions for today!  Complete with a misspelled aligator since the last words Mike said before he flipped the TV switch were…”See you later, alligator!”
